Are the 3rd party USB-C to C cables less prone to an early death or should I get Apple ones?

I'm about to get the new iPhone 16 soon to replace my 12 Pro. I a few Apple USB to Lightning cables that have never failed me. However, without fail the 3rd party ones I buy eventually die. I've used Anker, Belkin, Amazon Basics, cheap Chinese ones...all say they are MFI certified, but all stop charging my phone after a few months (years if lucky).

So my question is - are the 3rd party usb-c to c cables less prone to an early death? Or do I need to invest in a few Apple ones?

Thanks,

Dom

Something that is missing in this discussion is that it is important to never "skimp" with charging cables ... unless you find the cost of getting a replacement phone no big deal.

The reason I mention this, is the Apple charging cables come with two IC chips in one of the connector ends. These chips provide both identification and voltage regulation respectively.

Think of the former as a bouncer at a nightclub. It checks the validity of the power adapter for MFi-certification. Cheap cables may have this chip, but they could let "minors" in. Basically it "tells" your iPhone that everything is ok, and to go ahead and take the voltage coming from the adapter. One sign of a cheap cable is when you see the following error message: "Accessory not supported."

The latter chip is primarily used to prevent an over-voltage condition from reaching your iPhone. It also attempts to keep the voltage coming in constant.

Personally, I would stay with Apple cables, but it's your choice of course to choose whatever cable you want. Like Kurtosis12, I have also used cables from both Anker & OWC without any issues.

As I said, I've tried a lot of different lightning cables from a lot of different manufacturers. I've found that only Apple cables last. I'm currently using an Anger cable that I bought just 2 months ago and it already only works one way up (all my Apple cables work both ways). I've had similar issues with Anker in the past as well as Belkin (and many others). Anker seems to have less issues than most though.

So I was hoping to hear from people that have an iPhone 15 whether they have experienced something similar with 3rd party vs Apple USBC cables.
