My volume either goes up and down and no matter what I do it keeps doing that

My iPad is a 10th generation

so my volume keeps dropping or increasing and no matter if I use the buttons or not, it keeps doing that,

and sometimes the buttons don't work at all, like the volume is calm but the buttons don't work at all, and I'm very confused and worried, I have no idea why it's doing that

right now as I'm writing this, only the button to lower the volume works, the other one is not working

help

update: it returned to life and it's annoying to watch the little volume bar disappear and appeared over and over again

update2: its gone but so are the buttons working

update3: it's happening again, but this time both ways AHHHHHHHH!

Are you using a fitted case with your iPad?

If you are using a case, try removing (or at least re-fitting) the case. Some cases can mechanically interfere with the iPad's physical volume buttons.

If you are not using a fitted case with your iPad, you would be well advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad:
