I regularly back up iPhone/iPad to my Windows 11 pc.
For the past two backups that I have carried out, iTunes says that an update is available for iPhone/iPad.
Both are up to date!
Looking through Community posts this has happened before.
Why cannot Apple get this sorted?

Apple released a special version of iOS 17.6.1 a few weeks after releasing iOS 17.6.1. This special version cannot be seen as an update on the iPhone proper, only in iTunes. This version correct an issue with Fitness+.

It does make a bit of a mockery around iOS being consistent across devices.
It would also have been helpful if this fact had been better ‘advertised’.
