Hearing aid Bluetooth connectivity

My GN Resound Bluetooth hearing aids often lose connection with my iPhone 12 (iOS 17.6.1 (21G93). Tapping hearing aid in the accessibility settings always restores the connection and sometime checking status in the Smart 3D app works too but not reliably. Is this due to loss of Bluetooth connection and if so why doesn’t it reconnect automatically?

the battery level was at approximately 75% when this occurred during the latest loss event. I suppose it’s possible that this is the reason for some loss events is battery condition. However since connection is restored manually without problem I’m inclined to think something else is to blame. I’m also thinking restoration should be automatic if distance from the iPhone is causing the issue.

You wrote "level", rather than "Maximum Capacity" – so I wonder if you looked in the right place. To be clearer, this icon is the Settings app:

...Tap it to open Settings app. Then scroll down to Battery and tap it. Then tap Battery Health & Charging and tell us what the Maximum Capacity % is. If its value is only "––", let us know that.

Well thanks for participating but I’m not taking your response to the hearing aid connection problem as a valid cause of the problem. Battery capacity relates to the length of time a charge will hold. As long as the battery can sustain the load, performance is not affected no matter what the percentage of capacity is.

My connectivity problem with the hearing aids has existed through this iphone and the previous one.

I resorted to asking for help on this forum because I missed an important call today. The phone rang but since I can’t hear unless the notification is present in the hearing aids I missed it. I guess this issue was previously just an inconvenience, but this event was critical.

When I put the aids on in the morning the connection is usually automatic but some times not. At this time the iPhone has been on the MagSafe charger and is always fully charged. The distance between the iPhone and the hearing aids is less than a meter.

Frustrating!
