Saving texts; black layer over photos

I saved some texts to pdf and the pictures all have a black layer over them. I spent hours online and on the phone with Apple yesterday. They promised me a call back from a "better department" with people who could help. I did not get a phone call... This seems to be an ongoing problem for years.

I found that I could remove the layer picture by picture if I convert the pdf to a Word doc and then delete the black layer. You can do this in pdf format (with paid pro account) if you add security to the document before you save it.

In earlier posts about this issue, it seemed like no solution was found. iMazing was mentioned as a possibility to help but I can't find this mentioned on their website. Anyone have experience with it?

I am looking for help to remove the black boxes in a less time-intensive way, and mostly to find a way to save texts that does not include the black layer.
