By "go to my iCloud account on my tablet," do you mean that you are looking at iCloud Drive in the Files app, or that you are using Safari to go to iCloud.com to see your iCloud account there? iCloud can mean several different things. What do you see at iCloud.com? This is my iCloud.com page:

with the Photos section indicated. Do you have a Photos section?

You indicate an iPhone in your signature, but you refer to your "tablet." Are you using an iPad?

The best place to handle iCloud Photos is in Settings>Photos. Do you see that iCloud Photos is turned on there? Have you turned on "Optimize Storage" there?

It would help if you answered my other questions that I asked earlier:

  • You say, "All my settings are correct," but you don't let us know what they are. For instance, is "Optimize" on or off for iCloud Drive?
  • At Settings>General>iPhone Storage: what does it say? For instance, mine says 76.64 GB of 128 GB used.
  • At Settings>Apple ID what does iCloud storage say?

Thanks, I'm getting the picture. Unfortunately, I don't know why it's not working.

Here's another obvious question-- are you absolutely sure that the Apple IDs are the same for your iPhone and for the iCloud.com account you're looking at?

What do you see for iCloud Storage at Settings>Apple ID>iCloud?

It looks like for me most of my storage is Photos.

At Settings>Apple ID>iCloud>Photos, what is the "Status?"

Mine says "Synced 3 minutes Ago"

This is a little confused, and you didn't give us a lot of information. For instance, by "will not backup to the cloud" do you mean iCloud or some other cloud service? iCloud backups are available in the Data Recovery section at iCloud.com-- is this what you're talking about?

There is also an iCloud Photos and an iCloud Drive service-- are you talking about one of these? They are not backup services, really, but rather they offer synchronization. Are you saying that when you take pictures that they do not synchronize with iCloud Photos? How do you know-- what do you see on your phone that tells you this? What do you see when you go to iCloud.com?

You say, "All my settings are correct," but you don't let us know what they are. Is "Optimize" on or off in Photos? Is "Optimize" on or off for iCloud Drive?

At Settings>General>iPhone Storage: what does it say? For instance, mine says 76.64 GB of 128 GB used.

At Settings>Apple ID what does iCloud storage say?

Again, what actually happens on your phone that makes you say that "My photos will not backup to the cloud."
