Refurbished Macbook Pro 2021 1tb only showing 494gb, partition?

Have just booted up my new purchase, a refurbished Macbook Pro 1tb.

So far through System information, disk utility and storage settings it's showing that I only have 494gb of usable space.

Having accessed the terminal it now shows this information, can anyone offer guidance on whether this is a partition, or if I've been sold a machine with a smaller drive? I'm new to Mac OS so don't fully know where to look.

If it's a partition, I'd like to remove it before I install editing software etc.

That display clearly shows the inherent capacity of the drive is nominal 500 GB. if your purchase record says ITB, send it back.

NB>> if this is an Apple-Refurbished unit, you can not exchange refurbished for New at the Apple store. If an error occurred and you need to send it back, it has to go back to the refurbished store.

Hi Grant,

Having poked around some more it looks as though the ssd is an "APPLE SSD AP0512R" and not a 1tb model.

Luckily this was purchased through a trusted website, which has a return/repair service for the customer that I'll be using.

With any luck I can recieve this one back as it's otherwise in great condition!

Yes, something is not quite right. Your internal drive is listed as a 500 GB drive. It’s not a 1 TB drive.

This size is a bit surprising as I would have expected 512 GB is it were a 512 GB. I’d recommend contacting the seller to clear up this discrepancy.

if this is NOT an Apple refurbished unit the next likely thing to happen is they say, "since you already have it, what would it take for you to just keep it? some money back? how much?"

So you need to have an answer ready.

This is regardless of whether they made an honest mistake of not. Otherwise they endure shipping two ways additional.

My thoughts exactly, that's what made me think it was down to a partition and not a discrepancy.

If anyone else has suggestions please let me know, will get in touch with the seller now.
