I want to export my playlist xml files to a folder on my PC as a backup. I know it can be done but I have forgotten how it's done
Nothing to do with the phone.

That and the step mentioned above are the only two options I know of:
The former gives you an export of an individual playlist, the one I suggested exports the contents of all your playlists, yes, in a single XML.
Save a copy of your playlists in iTunes on PC - Apple Support
Perhaps some previous version of iTunes for Windows had another option.
MoochAmber,
Each XML that you export from iTunes is an individual file, so apparently you had a fit of inspiration one day and created a folder called "Playlists Imports 2023," and that is where the exports went. Not hard to do for an experienced computer whiz. :-)
Mooch Amber,
The command File > Library > Export Playlist will allow you to place the XML in a folder. (It may be different depending on your version.) The XML is just a regular file that you can move or copy the usual way.
As you are probably aware, the XML is just a listing for the playlist. It does not contain any audio. I hope you are also making other arrangements for backing up your library.
MoochAmber,
With the copy of Music and the system backup, that looks fine, thx for the clarification. (The reason I was trying to be careful is that often on this Forum folks think that "export" is creating a playable copy, which it is not, since it does not have the music files.)
I have MUSIC folder copied to a portable drive and also copied to my laptop for extra security. also do a monthly system backup. I will send you a copy of what I am looking for.
Also had the portable SX-64. Cool back then but a clunker now.
The stupid thing is I created that folder myself but can't recall how I did it. Did it all at once not individually. A ny idea!! Tough getting old. I recall working on my Vic 20.
Thing is, when I created that folder with all my playlists (at the time) I somehow did it with a single command, not one for each XML. That's what I am trying to recall. It was quite simple,
Try:
Choose File > Library > Export Library
Regards.
Tried that earlier but it just gives me 1 massive XML; as shown above, I am looking for a complete list of ALL my playlists. Done once somehow.
