Extreme noise problem in recording stringed instruments with microphones in garageband

No matter what I do, I can't record string instruments with the MacBook microphone and external microphones. It's interesting that I can record the vocals, but there is so much noise with the string instruments that you don't hear anything after the record.

When I record vocals, only high pitched notes get cut out When I record a vocal track on Garageband, it records fine unless I sing a high pitched note. GarageBand has stopped recording properly from any of the mic options Hi there, I have a strange issue with Garage Band, it has stopped recording properly from any of the mic options. I have a MacBook Air. Chip Apple M1 Memory is 16GB, running on Sonoma 14.1.2 I always use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 to run my mics into. When I try to record guitar or vocals like I usually do there are very few sound waves, and only some partial muffled sounds from the guitar and vocals are picked up, they sound quite "bitty" and distorted. I've tried the other mic options, the external mic of my laptop picks up does not work correctly and the mac book air microphone does not work correctly. I have tested the Scarlett 2i2 using the free recording software Audacity and also Abelton Live and it works fine so the Focusrtie is not the the issue. I have uninstalled and re installed Garage band but still have the same issue. Any suggestions? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

GarageBand not picking up audio All of a sudden GarageBand won’t pick up any audio. In the mac settings it will pick up both my usb mic and the internal mic fine however, in GarageBand it won’t pick up either. It was picking up both last week and working fine but it’s suddenly stopped today. I use it regularly and never had a problem before. I have tried/checked: restarting both the MacBook and garageband unplugging - re plugging in the mic etc. The privacy settings are correct the input settings are correct The latest versions are running Any help/insight would be great thanks!

Most likely you have a restrictive Mic Mode:

Im sure this problem related garage band because I dont have any problem with other recorder application

This has fixed a lot of obscure recording issues. It could be that the other apps don't use the Mic Mode. It can't hurt to check.
