How do i update my iPhone 6 to be able to download Facebook, messenger,and other various apps? I currently have ios12.5 on my phone and it says I’m up to date in the settings

Unfortunately your iPhone 6 can only be updated to iOS 12.5.7.

Here you should be able to see what iOS version you're on. If you're currently running iOS 12.5.7 than you're updated as far as you'll ever be able to update.
