Will apple store be able to figure out why ipad wont stay connect to internet?

Purchased new ipad pro this year (4th gen) in Apr 2024. Household has had numerous ipads since 2014 and currently we have 4 other ipads (2017-2021).

This latest one is running iOS 17.6.1 (as do the others). All other ipads, computers, and home internet devices remain connected on our 5g wireless Internet except this one. I've tried all the Apple site support recommendations.

This ipad pro always shows it is connected to the wifi SSID, however that is not the issue. It is not staying connected to the Internet.

Sometimes if I turn ipad's wifi setting off, then back on, it re-connects to the Internet but that is rare.

Sometimes if I power the ipad down then back on, it connects to Internet, maybe about 60% of the time.

Nearly always if I reset the network settings it connects to the Internet.

If not, then by powering it down and back up again it eventually connects to the internet.

This is a random, intermittent issue. Sometimes it stays connected for a few minutes and other times is stays connected for a few hours. j

If I take it into the Apple Store, is it likely they are going to be able to figure out the issue? It's a 3 hour round trip drive so if its unlikely they will do anything, I guess I will just live with the problem.

Maybe. They can certainly test it. But if it connects at the Apple Store, that doesn't mean that there isn't an issue between that iPad and your own Wi-Fi system or service that won't be exactly the same when you get back home.

Have you tried doing a factory reset of the problematic iPad to see if it's perhaps something amiss in the OS?

There could also be a subtle issue between your Wi-Fi router and the newer-generation hardware in the M4 iPads. Check to see if there's a firmware update for your router.

Be aware that if your WiFi Router supports WiFi 6E - and this feature is enabled - you should avoid splitting SSIDs between 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz WiFi bands. Only consider splitting SSIDs if you have completely disabled WiFi 6E.

Ensuring that all WiFi bands are using the same SSID will often resolve unexpected behaviour - such as you are currently experiencing with your iPad Pro.

As a diagnostic exercise, fully disabling 6GHz operation will help to identify the likely cause of connectivity issues.

Thanks. That's what I figured given its intermittent. If their test consists of connecting to their store wifi it wont reveal anything unless they keep it long enough to see if it drops their internet.

Yes, did 2 factory ipad resets since I purchased it in Apr.

It's a new router (purchased in Feb 2024) and when I last checked the router about a week ago, it was running the most recently available updates.

It offers 5G and 6G and I've tested the connection with both to see if one remains connected longer to the internet than the other. 5G seemed the most stable and is what the ipad seems to prefer when "auto join" is enabled, so I disabled the Router's 6G just in case that was confusing things.

I keep hoping an ipad update will roll out and resolve whatever is going on.

Thanks. Agree. I have only one SSID for the 2.4G and 5G (its not split).

In the OP I explained I disabled the 6G. I did that back in June and it hasnt made any difference these past few months.  Don't need 6G so i have no plans to enable it again.

Appreciate the link to best configure routers for apple devices on wifi.

One thing I just did was to enable Networking & Wireless under Location Services. I'll dig deeper into the other information in that link to make sure my router isn't the issue.
