External drive died. Photos are a mess now. Help with organizing them, please?
Hi there,
A few months ago, the drive that had all of my thousands of photos died. I panicked. Thankfully, I was able to get them all back. PHEW. The Photos library file for all of those photos won't open now. When I navigate to the recovered file, it says this: "The library “Photos Library.photoslibrary” could not be recognized."
The way I had them organized prior to the dead drive, was in Photos I had folders for years, subfolders for those months and each months photos in those subfolders. Chronologically was a good way for me to sort. When I got the new drive back with all my photos, it is super haphazard and completely disorganized. There's a main folder and inside are numbered and lettered folders. In each of those folders are random photos with no organization scheme. One photo could be from 2009 and the next from 2023 and the next is a video from 2017, for example. See attached screenshot.
So, my question is, how do I re-organize these? I want to be able to have these chronologically ordered again and use them as my screensaver. I also understand that I need to utilize icloud drive/photos so I don't run the risk of losing these photos again. That was terrifying.
Thanks in advance!
Emily
