iPad is frozen

I have a notification from home that would like to send critical alerts, it popped up and won’t let me choose don’t allow or allow! I have tried to turn off my IPad but the swipes also won’t work! So I tried to restart it with clicking the volume buttons once then holding down power button, also didn’t work!

iPad, iPadOS 17

Performed correctly, assuming that the physical buttons of your iPad are fully functional, your iPad will restart. The sequence and timing of button presses are critical.

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button; do not release the top button until...
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

You may have to hold the top button for 10-15 seconds. Ignore the Power-off slider when it appears on the screen.

Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)

  • Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time; do not release either button until...
  • When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.

You may have to hold both buttons for 10-15 seconds. Ignore the Power-off slider when it appears on the screen.

Lauren,

Please research the correct procedure to restart your iPad model. You did not include that information otherwise we could have included instructions on how to restart your device. Different models have different processes. If you are unsure of what you own, look on the device exterior. If you are totally lost, please pick up the phone and call AppleCare and they will walk you through the process.
