iPhone 16 Pro Max Pre-Order

Hi, I plan to place a pre-order for the new iPhone on 13/09 for in-store pickup. If I successfully complete the pre-order and the pickup date is the launch day, will I be guaranteed to receive the phone on that day at any time during store hours, as long as I show up? Or will I need to arrive early to ensure I get the phone despite having pre-ordered it?

You will be guaranteed to get it once you receive the email telling you it's ready for pickup.

Pre-Orders are charged the moment they ship and as such your device is reserved specifically for you during the day it becomes available and for around 2 weeks after that, but after the specific time window you are offered wait times at the store can vary.

Thank you and if I'd like to trade my old phone in, can I select this option on the website and then proceed to trade it in store?

No. If you choose to trade it during purchase on the website, you will be shipped a trade-in kit for that purpose.

If you don't ship it within 7 days of receiving the new iPhone, the trade in will be cancelled.

Extremely Unlikely. There's likely already millions of people pre-ordering now. The likelyhood of getting it before it shows up in stores now is slim to none at best.

The Apple Store website now has a 3 to 4 week shipping estimate.

That's not correct. Even if the Author chooses the trade in option on the website, and receives a trade-in kit, they can still trade the phone directly at the Apple Store. I've done this the last 3 years and plan to do it this year as well.

Apple will NOT deliver any new iPhone 16 models until the 20th. Nor will they be available in ANY Apple Stores until the 20th. And if you try to show up at your Apple Store on the 20th with the hopes of getting one, you'll likely be turned away without a preorder. Though Apple Stores "sometimes" have "some" phones available on a first come first served basis. Usually however, you'd need to camp out at your Apple Store in the wee hours of the morning of the 20th to have any chance of getting one without a preorder.

But then it would not apply to the purchase of the new iPhone would it?

If you pre-ordered and started the pre-order online, Apple expects to receive the iPhone for trade in through the mail-in kit and then refunds you the amount to the payment method used to buy the iPhone.

If you don't do this, the trade-in is cancelled and no a mount refunded through there.

Do the people in the store track your order online and add the trade-in value to it in some way or just give you a gift card?

I don't see how they would manage the order that is closed and refund an amount with the trade in, but if they do that, I was unaware they did, that is great.

Yes indeedy, it does apply to the purchase of the new phone. Every year, I get the trade-in kit. And every year, I take the old phone to my Apple Store, where they give me the trade value on the spot, which is applied to the new phone purchase.
