The RC version is the same as the Release version. If you have installed the RC version, then you will not be offered to download and install the Release version.

That may or may not be true. RC versions are not always the final; that's why they're called "candidate".
BartieBoy, when iOS 18 is released, just run Software Update. If there's a more current version that is the final release, you'll be offered it.
