I’m planning to buy a cellular ipad pro from the usa. I’m just wondering if it would work in india and if it would support the esim of indian carriers?

Technically yes - although you need to check that the Carrier itself will support iPad...
The majority of mobile phone SIMs are not useable with tablet computers - as iPad lacks Cellular calling and messaging capabilities. An iPad, in isolation from an associated iPhone (that can provide additional services using Continuity features of iOS/iPadOS), can only access IP Data services over Cellular.
You will need a Cellular plan (and associated eSIM) that explicitly supports Apple iPad or tablet computers - sometimes known as MiFi.
As such, you will need to verify that your intended Cellular Carrier in India explicitly supports iPad.
