Holding the power button my MacBook Air just shuts down and won't turn on

i tried what others recommend with that issue. holding the power button for a while: nothing appears it just shuts down.

another option, to hold power button shortly until it starts and then hold it for a while for options, but in this case it just shuts down again. so i can’t get any other screen to appear besides just the same start put screen without wifi option.

Holding down the power button (also the TouchID sensor) results in an hard shutdown. When the Mac is shut down, a single press of the button (or any key) boots the Mac up.

What options are you trying to see? What are you trying to achieve? And what year/model of Mac do you have, since Intel vs. Apple Silicon determines the startup options and how to reach them.
