What is the point in blocking contacts?

These emails from blocked contacts just appeared in my email. As you see, these things are pouring in. What is the point in blocking contacts if Apple Mail just keeps sending me the stuff? How do I I stop this stuff?

This is text.

Why am I still getting emails from blocked addresses?

Spam emails can take a lot of our busy time. In many occasions even if we block them we still get their messages, this is happening when an email address has been spoofed to show a different name in the "From:" field. Identify the real name of the blocked email address and stop it for good.

There are a few reasons this can happen:

  • The sender is also on your allow list. The allow list takes precedence over the block list to ensure no desired mail is lost. Check your allow list to make sure the sender is not on it.
  • Your automatic junk mail filtering is turned off. Block/Allow list capabilities require Automatic Junk Mail Filtering to be enabled.
  • The servers take up to an hour to sync changes made to your Allow and Block lists. If you very recently added somebody to your list, they may still be able to send you messages for up to an hour.
  • The person you tried to block is in your Contacts list. There is a setting in OWA > Options > block or allow to "Trust email from my contacts." Having this enabled will override any additions you may make to your blocked senders list. Uncheck this option to resolve.

The Mail Client ( Application ) belongs to Apple and we agree on that.

The emails are coming for the Senders via the email address associated with your email Provider

The Application is doing what the User has configured it to do, Block Sender(s)

You may consider logging into the webPortal of your email service provider

See if there is some setting or filter they offer to Block the email addresses of the Block Sender

In so doing, the Blocked Senders email(s) may be Blocked or Deleted Server Side of this equation and never reach your Inbox.

Report and reduce spam in iCloud Mail

I am using Fibre Optic 1 GB upload and 1 GB Download via Bell Canada 🇨🇦

My main email account is with Apple via iCloud

The point being, it matters little, who your email account is placed with from nor the speed of one's Internet.

The Spammers will always find a way to Invade your and my space

We can only mitigate the effects by blocking the senders and or changing your email address and Only give it out to People you Trust

Email, in general, is like writing a personal and confidential letter on a Postcard

Anyone can read it before it arrives to the Recipient

First, I certainly understand that my email is “out there.” I may not have been clear.

When I look at my Junk folder I see emails from blocked senders.

Somewhere in the ether on their way to my iCloud email Junk folder the emails were marked as blocked.

When the marking occurs it seems to me that whoever or however the emails are marked they could just be deleted.

If they can’t then what’s the point of blocking?

I still have to wade through my junk to find the occasional legit email from contacts that Apple sometimes — but not always — does not recognize and marks it junk.

Simplified, Blocked Sender does not

mean to Delete regardless what Mail>> Preferences >> Junk filters

The wording is misleading and has been misleading in Monterey, Ventura and Sonoma

This is my understanding and not that of Apple per se

Blocked sender in Junk allows the user to shift through ALL the junk messages, as you have stated and choose the ones that are Not Junk

Under your scenario above

If the Junk is immediately Deleted, presto your non Junk you mentioned would have been deleted

Careful what you ask for

What is the point in blocking contacts?
