i have a folder of m4a files that all work yet when i put it in itunes and press play it refuses to play

Minimize iTunes. In Windows Explorer, find one of the problem files. Right-click and choose Open With > iTunes.
Do you see any error messages, either a pop-up by iTunes or does an exclamation mark appear next to a song when you try to play it?
nope, just doesnt play
