I can’t connect to Airplay on my Apple Tv 3rd generation

I have tried signing in with my Apple ID and when I do sign in a verification code pops up on my iPhone remote but no verification code sign in pops up on the Apple TV.

If you have an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) and two-factor authentication for your Apple ID, then you may be asked to type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field. Additionally, there is a time limit, after which the code becomes invalid.

Try this: First enter the characters of your password (do not submit yet), then manually request a new verification code, then append that code to the password (no spaces or other separating characters), and then submit. That should help you get passed the time limit.

Go to Settings﹥iTunes Store﹥… It should list your Apple ID already. If not, then you may want to reset and set it up again. Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support.

A signed in and registered Apple TV is required for AirPlay functionality.

Use the password field for both the password and the verification code, as detailed in the previous reply.

Signing in for iCloud services is no longer supported, so skip that. iCloud services are not used for AirPlay, so this doesn’t matter for the AirPlay functionality.

If you are successfully signed in, but Settings﹥General﹥About﹥ says “Activation: Failed”, then please see user RKG61’s workaround: discussions.apple.com/thread/253315520.
