Scroll to the bottom of a mail in Inbox and find “Notify me”. Does it send a mail or a text or a notification? When does it send it? How often? Can I adjust any of these, and if so, how?
I can’t find anything about this in iPhone User Guide or Help on my Mac or in apple.com/support.

I don’t believe that is an Apple feature. None of my emails have it. It might be a feature of the specific email account type that you use.
So it seems the answer to my questions are, if you tap "Notify me,"
• it will send a notification for any future email from the same sender
• using the Notifications settings: banners, badges, etc
I already have Notifications on for all incoming mail, so I conclude that for me, tapping "Notify me" will not do anything.

Is this in all emails? Or just certain ones? Can you post a screen shot (without private information)?
I erred in describing the issue: it’s not at the bottom of the mail itself but at the bottom of the Reply menu.
It is my iCloud mail account, and it is available in all my Inbox emails.
btw I now have looked it up in the iCloud user guide and don’t find it mentioned there either.
I think it might be a noise that you iPhone makes when a email arrives.
