If you are planning to use the phone in India, you should purchase the phone in India.

Apple provides different versions of the iPhone 16 to different regions of the world, and there is no guarantee that the U.S. version will function correctly in India or be eligible for warranty coverage in India.

It is very possible that the repair centers in India would not have access to parts for the U.S. version.

So, before you buy......contact an Apple repair center in India and ask them if they will provide warranty coverage for an iPhone 16 that is purchased in the U.S.

I would be surprised if the iPhone 16 purchased in the U.S. will have warranty coverage in India.

AppleCare+ is not automatically international. From Apple's terms:

Service will be limited to the options available in the country where you request service. Service options, parts availability and response times may vary. If service is not available for the Covered Equipment in a country that is not the country of purchase, you may be responsible for shipping and handling charges to facilitate service in a country where service is available.

For the iPhone, availability of service in a country other than the one in which the phone was purchased is spotty be best and often, due the lack of parts or replacement phones, unavailable. Purchasing an iPhone from a country other than the one in which on lives is almost always a bad idea.

Regards.

AppleCare+ is international but I think you must take it to an approved Apple reseller to use the warranty. You could also find some functions don't work in India but don't ask me what those might be. There is one feature available in the USA iPhone called mmWave 5G that is not included for other countries. You could also find the iPhone bought in the USA only supports eSim and does not have a SIM card tray. Does your network in India use eSim?
