Hotmail not syncing on MacBook

Hotmail not syncing with Apple mail on Mac

I have to help someone with an old Hotmail account that is used using for all admin stuff. Recently they had a problem with the email not syncing to their Apple mail app.

Considering the latest “letter” from outlook We’ve moved the login to exchange as advised by Microsoft but this didn’t help.

There is no specific pattern but sometimes it syncs with the MacBook sometimes it doesn’t. They have MacBook Air m1 with Sonoma. There is no issue with iPhone though it all downloads no problem.

I googled it for hours and unfortunately couldn’t find anything other than other people having this issue. I also went trough all possible settings I could think of on both Mac and iPhone and problem keeps reoccurring.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure what will be in Mail tomorrow, but hopefully Apple will include a Outlook.com option like they have on the iPhone and iPad, but for the time being you could download Outlook of of the App Store and use that for your Hotmail account.

Right that’s tomorrow though We logged in by “exchange” as suggested on many forums etc. And sometimes it syncs sometimes It doesn’t I think that’s the weirdest part. I tried to find some settings like “if email downloads and is opened on iPhone it doesn’t come up on MacBook” but didn’t find a thing out of the ordinary all settings look good. I’ll try to suggest the outlook app but it’s so much more complicated and for someone older might be hard to figure out

Not that much more complicated. I have been using it for that past few months and it has flaws just like Mail. I do like the Block option in it since once a email is blocked, it doesn't let the mail through like Mail. Oh by the way I am someone older.
