Translate app extremely slow response

When I try to translate a word, they take more than 10 seconds to complete a translation, whereas Google Translate the word was instantly translated.

What seems to be the issue here?

My translation keep showing “Translation is unavailable at the moment. Try again at a later time”. Anytime I try and translate on my iMac through Safari or Mail or anywhere where the built in translator functions I get a message saying “Translation is unavailable at the moment. Try again at a later time”. this has been happening for more than a few days now, so trying again later is pointless so far. I downloaded the languages and it has made no difference. How do I fix it as I use that function fairly frequently and the only answers I've seen on the forum relate to iphones. thanks

Probably the roundtrip network time for the translation request to return from Apple's servers back to your phone. Google doesn't have a roundtrip time to translate and display the result on their server view in your browser.
