Keyboard selection not sticking

I just got a new MacBook Air today - MacBook Air (13-inch, M3, 2024). I've connected a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad to use with an external display! When none of the keyboard shortcuts were working, I noticed that the selection of the external magic keyboard doesn't seem to stick after I select it. When I X-out of this menu and go back, it automatically reverts to selecting the internal Macbook Air keyboard and I'm guessing that's why the shortcut keys aren't working either. How can I fix this?

Magic Keyboard malfunctioning with new Macbook Air The spacebar on my Magic Keyboard seems to be activating a blue box to appear on whatever page I am using, in Chrome browser (particularly in Gmail and Google docs) but also in Keynote and other programs. Then the spacebar no longer works as a key and I need to hit "command + the space bar" to get it to work. It works again if I turn the keyboard on and off, or if I reload whatever I am working on.

My arrow keys stopped working I have a MacBook Pro, purchased in 2020. The arrow keys - up, down, left, right - have all stopped working. Can this be fixed?
