My iPhone microphone suddenly quit working and everything except for iMessage/SMS, and video calls. It was enabled under permissions and it passed mic tests, but still did not work in my apps where I had permissions enabled.
I found this question had not been answered for a long time and I couldn't answer unless I posted a new question, so I'm posting a solution too
If you're having me about the problem, the solution is Settings>Privacy&Security>Microphone>APP CLIPS (not everybody knows what that is.) if you have recently disabled, like I did, microphone permissions to App Clips, turned them back on and the problem is immediately solved.
