"Failed to Add the Preset" Apple Studio Display Display Preset Issue

When I try to create a Display Preset for my Apple Studio Display, I get an error stating "Failed to Add the Preset". This is actually a preset I used to have, but after updating to MacOS Sequoia, I can no longer add new presets (just to the apple studio display, as I can now add presets again to the Laptop monitor (couldn't before on beta). Is there any way to fix this? It's fairly important in my line of work.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.0

Having the same problem as of Sequoia's final release.

My presets are gone, and I cannot color calibrate the monitor properly because of this issue.

Tried unplugging the monitor for a half hour to power drain and cycle it back up.
Rebooted several times.

Waiting on the new Asus 8K monitor to become available, and then no more Apple monitors for me!

Reinstalling macOS 15 did NOT solve the issue.

Having the same issue with 15.0.1—tried a few times with customer support. No resolution.

2022 Mac Studio with M1 Ultra chip.

Is there any update here from Apple Support?

It's ridiculous that a basic function of these displays is now gone with no information of when it will be brought back.

Definitely feels like Apple dropped the ball here. No improvement since 15.1. Whenever the 8K ASUS display becomes available, no more Apple monitors for me :)

Thank you for troubleshooting and I’m sorry this happened! As someone who also uses the monitor for work, it’s disappointing to say the least.

Which support would you recommend reaching out to, to add to what you’re already doing to help push awareness along?

Thank you!

I reached out this morning and had a helpful tech troubleshoot with me for about an hour before he created a case to take to Apple for deeper investigation. Turns out we're the lucky two this is happening to for now 😁

Support was unable to help me fix this after a couple of hours of phone troubleshooting and back and forth with Apple engineers.

Very disappointing that a monitor can be functionally disabled via software updates, but life lesson learned: Don't use Apple monitors for serious work.

Both nasa15 and myself have reached out to support and spoken to engineers with no resolution. Unfortunately I think this might not be something that ends up being resolved. Extremely unfortunate as I renders my monitor inaccurate and officially unusable for certain uses.

I was able to test a friend's M3 MacBook Pro and noticed two things.

Thing 1. It still doesn't work.

Thing 2. My presets are still there on his computer, which made me realize these presets are stored IN THE MONITOR, not in the computer. Therefore nothing you do to your computer is going to make this work or not work. This needs to be fixed within the monitor firmware, or the monitor itself. I'm going to talk to Apple again about this and see what can be done.

Not yet unfortunately. Please reach out to Apple Support and make it clear that this has nothing to do with your computer, and is instead an issue with the monitor itself, and likely the A13 Bionic chip inside the monitor.

Are you able to make changes to reference modes/presets on your laptop display itself?

Official Apple support told me to reinstall macOS for now. If that doesn't work, my ticket is escalated to Tier 2 support for when I call back... I'll update if a reinstall works!
