Comparing Music Discovery on Apple Music vs. Spotify

Hey everyone,

A few months back, I decided to take advantage of a three-month free trial of Spotify. I’ve been a loyal Apple Music subscriber for years and have always enjoyed the service. However, during my time with Spotify, I noticed something interesting: it seemed much easier to discover new music on Spotify compared to Apple Music. By new music, I don’t mean recently released tracks, but rather songs that I’ve never heard before.

One feature that stood out to me was Spotify’s homepage. Right under my liked songs, Spotify suggests additional tracks that are similar to my preferences. This made it incredibly easy to shuffle through and discover new music that I might enjoy. While Apple Music also offers curated playlists, I found Spotify’s approach to be more intuitive and effective for discovering new tunes.

Now that I’m exploring both apps side-by-side, I see that they share many similar features when it comes to music discovery. However, during my free trial of Spotify, I felt that it was easier to come across new music.

I’m curious to hear from you all: How do you typically discover and explore new music? Do you rely on similar artists, genres, or other methods?
