MacOS Sequoia installed. Internet will randomly drop connection

Hi

I have a an M2 Max Macbook Pro with 32Gb of RAM. I installed MacOS Sequoia today. After installation, I started getting intermittent random internet connection/server busy messages on a black screen and this will go on for say 30 seconds or more and then randomly it will be back to normal again.

I have restarted the macbook pro. I have restarted the docking station. I have removed the ethernet cable connected and reconnected it after restarting the docking station. I still get the same problem showing up randomly.

Any suggestions?

I was able to "fix" my network issues by disabling the microsoft content filter in Settings --> Network --> Filters.

Might work for content filters of other brands too.

Firewall is still enabled.

Hi im been experienced this since the update.

and been looking for answer.

im using Mac Mini M1 and recently updated the os into 15.3.1 then the wifi start reconnecting.

i have resseted all the routers from internet provider, renew dhcp for my mesh wifi and change the UTP cables.

restarting,

Im using Xiaomi mesh system AC1200 and its been good before update.

but now i find the solution for now :

  • first, to troubleshoot make sure your wifi is not auto join,.

if the disconnecting problem happened, now you know that you're randomly out of wifi connection.

  • Next, join back the wifi, and click on three dot, > NETWORK SETTING

for private wi-fi address section, choose ROTATING instead of Fixed.

and click OK.

check again, and keep the auto join wifi unchecked for a while.

let me know if its working. i almost want to go and buy a new mesh router..luckily i still found the solution.

Expanding on my comment about WiFi settings and the settings

Off: Your network interface uses the default MAC address it was

given when it was manufactured.

• Fixed: The new default setting, Fixed gives your network interface

a different, private MAC address, the upshot of which is that devices

on your local network (such as routers and other computers) will

still be able to track you by MAC address, but tracking beyond your

local network (that is, anywhere else on the internet) is harder.

• Rotating: With this setting, your Mac periodically changes the

network interface’s MAC address, which makes it harder for other

devices to track you, whether or not they’re on your local network.

We just don't know Apple means by "periodically". I found that running a router that has a setting on it for Mac Address filtering that the Fixed and Rotating play havoc on it and have turned it OFF.

The computer is managed. It is a work computer.

Then your IT staff should have figured this out a couple of months ago or blocked you from doing the upgrade.

Unfortunately, managed computers often have custom configurations and software. There is no way that we can help over a user-to-user tech support forum like this. There is just too much about your system that isn't standard and we can't reproduce.

Seeing similar behavior here, no little snitch installed. Tried setting the MAC rotation to both off and fixed, neither worked reliably, it just seemed to change the frequency of disconnect which honestly could have been confirmation bias. ZScaler is installed as a VPN, disabling it and rebooting has no effect. Problem is affecting local and internet destinations similarly, all Windows and Linux machines in the house are working just fine. Wireshark trace on the macbook showing significant number of retransmissions, unexpected frames with no predecessor, resets, etc. as would be expected if the MAC address was still trying to change.

I am sorry that you are seeing such bad results with your Wifi.

I can assure you that your experience is not normal, either in 15.1 or 15.2.

I can see that you added a lot of things which could impact your network access. Even though you said you turned them off, there could still be effects.

As a test, try running your speed test in Safe Mode (note: your mac will run more slowly in general in Safe Mode, but should there be some software impacting network access, this test should provide better results than you are getting). Let us know how that goes.

Also, if you want us to look for possible issues, please post an Etrecheck report.

Basically removed little snitch adguard and vpn configurations first. Will let it sort through everything and settle before adding them back one by one

Little Snitch is not the problem. Seems to be mostly related to the Apple firewall. Suggest turning it off if you have Little Snitch.

What kind of buffoonery is involved in not testing their releases with one of the most common 3rd party apps (Little Snitch) I have no idea.
