My 3rd party email imap account was not syncing on my iPhone. Specifically emails deleted on iPad or Mac Mini were not flowing through to my iPhone.

MY SOLUTION: Turn off private relay on my iPhone. I suspect hiding my IP address was causing the problem.

I hope this helps.

Oct 2 I just did this and it worked...

Did anyone else receive this (supposed to be actioned before Sept 30) regarding Hotmail/Outlook etc:

The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.

What do you need to do?

If you are receiving this email, you are currently using an email or calendar app that uses a less secure authentication method to connect to your Outlook.com email account. You will need to upgrade your third-party mail and calendar app to a version which supports modern authentication methods.

Microsoft provides free versions of Outlook for your PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices which can be easily downloaded and connect to your email account. Using an updated version of an Outlook application will ensure you are connecting in the most secure way.

How can you set up your Gmail, Apple Mail, or other third-party mail application?

Various non-Microsoft applications will have their own steps for connecting to your Outlook.com email account using modern authentication methods. See our help article - Modern Authentication Methods now needed to continue syncing Outlook Email in non-Microsoft email apps. However, you may need to contact the creators of those applications to provide you with instructions. In many cases, simply removing and re-adding your account with the latest version of that application will configure it to use modern authentication methods.

I have just talked to Apple support, that tells me that they don't have received that many calls on this issue.

I'm told that the right way to report an issue like this is to, go to apple.com/feedback and sent in a Bug Report.

In Apple support, they don't have access to the developers who can fix these issues. So please everybody sent a Bug report to Apple so they can be aware that we have this mail issue.

It is also the request from Apple support.

noone from accounts are working.

test account - that also not working. but that was fully tested possible "connection issues" like certificate and so on. test shown clearly that all problem only inside app itself, as rfc IMAP are ok (A3 / A4 was sent in order but without waiting response of each. that is ok, but depend on "developer" how they implemented, next commands like FETCH are not issued by app)

Hi,

I had a similar issue with my email disappearing from multiple accounts, and after troubleshooting, I discovered that the problem was related to my self-hosted IMAP mail service on Synology. After updating the SSL certificate, the issue was resolved, and all my emails reappeared. If you're using a self-hosted solution, I recommend checking your SSL certificate as well.

Hope this helps!

That's it! It is a problem of the iOS Mail App communicating with some flavors of IMAP servers (f.i. old versions of Cyrus IMAP Server) in iOS 18.

And, in addition to that, iOS Mail App doesn't honor specific NAMESPACE configurations ( f.i NAMESPACE (("INBOX." ".")) (("user." ".")) (("" ".")) - Mail App "sees" anything below "INBOX" only), so in some circumstances folders of "other users" or "public" are not visible anymore since iOS 18.1...

And, by the way, NAMESPACE (("INBOX." ".")) (("user." ".")) (("" ".")) is the default configuration of "old Cyrus versions"...
