They are almost certainly fake.
Itâs not possible for you to have purchased âbrand newâ AirPods on eBay at all. eBay is not an authorized retailer and no Apple authorized retailers sell Apple products on eBay.

Checking the serial number at Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support
shows that they were âreplacedâ.
That means the serial number is tied to a device that was deemed defective or damaged and was replaced by Apple without the original being returned as required,
or
the device was reported lost or stolen in transit
or
The serial number has been used to manufacture counterfeit devices.
Apple wonât touch them under any circumstances. Even if they are ârealâ, they are unsupportable.
