Does anyone know how to fix this error when attempting to turn on FileVault ?

So . . . both Intel and Apple silicon are affected. At least that makes a fix in macOS 15.1 more likely.
MacBook Pro M1 (2020) has no issues.
Issue only with Sequoia.
Tried on two external drives running Sequoia. One on Intel and one on Silicon and both show "internal error" when trying to turn on FileVault. No issues with Monterey or Sonoma units.
Considering Apple’s record on security and their obvious desire that all Mac users enable FileVault, I’m amazed that this issue slipped through the Sequoia development process.
There was a low level firmware update in 14.7 and 15.0 upwards. I suspect the error resides there.
Have you been able to escalate the issue to senior desk and has a senior advisor submitted a ticket to the engineering department. If so, what was the outcome ?
