iOS 18 draining my battery
Last night (17/09/24) I upgraded to iOS 18 update but this morning when I started using the phone, my battery drained out very quickly - anyone had similar issues.
any solution please ?

It’s the photos app. I’ve had things like background app refresh, dictation and location turned off for years. I have about five (non Apple) apps installed (no social media or entertainment type) and I use my iPhone 15 Pro primarily for talk and text which never accounts for more than 5% of my battery use, even on a heavy use day. I went from holding a two day charge to charging twice a day immediately after iOS 18. I noticed in Battery Heath that Photos was using 32% of my battery in the background which was alarming because I don’t use Photos in that capacity, and for the fact that I have background refresh disabled. My solution was to turn cellular data off for Photos entirely. (Settings > Apps> Photos > Cellular Data> toggle off) It’s been about a week and my battery is holding almost the same charge it did pre-update. I hope this helps!
Apple has essentially overhauled the utility app into their own version of social media, riddled with unnecessary AI and it’s working as such. Imagine it as uploading 5,000+ photos and videos to Instagram all at the same time. As long as you connect to WiFi periodically, your photo’s will continue to sync to iCloud. I don’t use the app much, but I can’t find any reason to have Photos running on cellular.
Side note: I do not connect my iPhone to WiFi on a regular basis. If you are constantly connected to WiFi, this fix likely won’t work for you as the app will continue to run in the background via WiFi and there is currently no way to disable this function (hence the issue).

My iPhone 14 Pro is doing the same. Battery draining very quickly, and gets the phone gets hot, which interrupts charging. It appears the Calendar app is the culprit, responsible for 80% of the battery usage, when I haven’t even used Calendar.
Actually, such battery drain is a norm after each iOS upGrade and some iOS upDate. It will recover eventually.
However each upGrade will tax the battery a lot. My older iphone 11’s battery health always degraded with each upGrade. For the last upGrade from iOS 16 to iOS 17, I put the phone on a towel with an ice pack below during the upGrading process 🤣.
I am choosing not to upGrade my old iphone 11 and iphone 15 plus this time.
Spoke to Apple moments ago about battery draining extremely fast and my battery health going from 100% to 92% in 1 week. They stated that iOS 18 just recalibrated the battery and it’s now showing its true percentage.

It’s 510 am. Last time I charged the phone was 230 pm the previous day. At 82 % after normal use. Erasing the phone and keeping core apps and a few others seems to have fixed my issue.

Me facing same issue after updating to iOS 18 and i am waiting until iOS 18.0.1 but still facing same issue. So i manage to send my iPhone 14 Pro Max to Apple center to change new battery because first i think it was my phone battery issue (85% Battery Health). But then i'll decided to trade in my 14 Pro Max to brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max and guess what, i felt same battery performance on my new 16 Pro Max same as my previous 14 Pro Max with 85% Battery Health. So for sure 100% this battery drain issue come from iOS 18 update not from device itself.
What battery health do you have?
So when you go to battery in settings, what app or apps does it say is using so much battery up?
What are the top 3 consumers of your battery in the battery settings?
Have you tried the suggested method of disabling Siri learning from your apps? Seemed to help me out with my 14
