I had the same issue with sounds not working on my apps.

turns out that I had to go into control panel, under what’s playing I had to set it to iPhone, it was set to my hearing aids. After that, sounds worked just fine.

Hello, it just happened to me. I was in a call when the sound just disappeared. I made another call and the sound was OK but after I finished the call there was not any sound when I was watching YouTube videos, nor on Instagram, nor else. I started searching for help information and finally decided to call to support when I found that my phone was connected to my earphones. Which was so strange because they were a few meters away and I hadn’t used them for at least a day. So I disconnected them.

This worked for me. My speaker phone has not been working for days after the update, but would play sound no problem. Just went into control center and hit the little circle in the top right to change what my audio was playing through and the volume was completely turned down when it was on speaker only but when sound was selected through the ear like normal it was at a regular volume. Selected speaker again in the control center and turned the volume all the way up and now works perfectly!

The only way I have been able to get sound notifications for texts back (and it was about 98% successful) was to reset the phone back to factory settings. Even with restoring settings from ICloud backups I spent several days going over all the individual settings to rest my preferences. Also restarted wifi. There seem to be several threads with similar complaints about 18.0 and 18.1. I've sent 2 Feedback reports in asking for a fix for this in another update. So please report here at the link to Apple feedback for IPhone:

After updating to 18.1.1 on iPhone 10x I experienced not sound notifications for messages, county alert app, or incoming phone calls. After a number of trial and error attempts I searched "How to disable silent mode in IOS 18.1.1" Turning off silent mode as shared in the following videos seems to have remedied my problem: https://youtu.be/wkKMgNIcdS4 , https://youtu.be/HHIISw2yM9U

I am hoping this is the permanent fix as I have just completed this a couple of hours ago and have not had the benefit of time to confirm its permanence.

For me is was a coincidence that I updated to 18.11 (from 17.x) and now had no sound. I had ALSO taken my case off to clean the phone and put it back on. Reading all these responses I finally came across someone else who had accidentally turned on do not disturb on their phone by flipping the mechanical switch found above the volume up and down switches (at least on my iPhone 11 pro).

Here is the link to the video they shared, and it solved my (self-inflicted) problem.

Symptom: phone doesn't ring, locking the screen gives no click sound, taking a photo gives no click sound, and so on.

I had the same problem after IOS18. 5 days Apple support working with me and I gave up. Kept reading here & tried little tweaks. Every update, back to no notification sound for emails. Finally resolved- deleted each of my email apps (Yahoo & Roadrunner). Then deleted the native Apple email. Reboot iPhone. Add Apple email app( in AppStore). Then added my email apps. Works perfectly, knock wood. I have also discovered bad WiFi reception screws things up and it doesn’t seem to switch back to cellular but that’s another issue. Anyway, give it a shot. My notifications now work as they have with every iPhone since the 4.

Taittinger1980: Yes. I’m getting the notifications on my Lock Screen. I just switched to Outlook app and set up my email account. Everything is working. The issue with no sounds on my phone like text notifications and no haptic sounds - the fix for me was turning off Vocal Shortcuts in Accessibility. Dumb question, but for not Lock Screen notifications, do you have the setting to display as List or Stack? I had mine set to Count and it wouldn’t show I had a text, it would just give me a sound and then just a message saying how many notifications I have. I changed it to Stack and that worked.
