Hello.. Something weired started happening after I updated my iphone to iOS 18 .. the sound suddenly disappears.. and I had to restart the phone twice to get the sound back again..
did any one have this issue after the update?

I too have no sound after updating to 18.0. And restarting several times has NOT helped!
Yes to Taittinger1980 I get Lock Screen notifications with Gmail app. Only get a few crappy email alert sounds with app but better than IOS Mail which is nothing at all. Will carry on using it until Apple hopefully brings out an update?!
A couple of weeks ago I started getting sound notifications...SOMETIMES, it comes and goes. I lost sounds for email after the iOS 18.0 update, like so many others. I called customer service but they wanted me to do a complete reset of my phone and I didn't want to do that. I'm too afraid if I update to iOS 18.1 it will cause even the few times I DO get sound notifications to go back to ZERO. I'm also going to wait a couple of weeks.

The only way I have been able to get sound notifications for texts back (and it was about 98% successful) was to reset the phone back to factory settings. Even with restoring settings from ICloud backups I spent several days going over all the individual settings to rest my preferences. Also restarted wifi. There seem to be several threads with similar complaints about 18.0 and 18.1. I've sent 2 Feedback reports in asking for a fix for this in another update. So please report here at the link to Apple feedback for IPhone:
I called last Friday and reported it. I got a case number.
Anyone have any ideas about the new update? 18.1?!?Do we install it? I am going to wait couple of weeks myself
A work around that worked for me was To create a new Fokus and then add all Apps and all people. That should work for you aswell
I have taken mine into Apple support shop SELECT checked my phone nothing wrong with phone so problem is iOS 18 update Apple please resolve
This happened to me, too. My speakers are totally dead--Siri can’t hear me, there’s no sound during phone calls, etc. I’ll try restarting a few times, and I’m looking for this hearing aid setting someone else suggested. Will update.

My jaybird earbuds now only play out of one earbud since updating to 18 , great work Apple , I was hoping that Apple might appear here to help us all out with the problem, that’s wishful thinking for you
My husband has the new 16 iPhone and was having this same issue of no or quiet speaker sound with incoming calls. We found out that there was a setting called “Attention Awareness Features” under Face ID & Attention. Once we turned this off, he had sound again. Hope this helps!
I am also having the same problem and was told to reset all settings. Did that and it was a pain to put everything back in and did so. Still no text sound notifications!! They need to fix this soon! Very frustrating
Same. Turning Bluetooth off solves it for me but when I turn on again the problem comes back after 5 minutes or so. I need Bluetooth for my Apple Watch. This happened after installing 18.0.1
