Help! Compatible voice recorders with transcription for MacBook Air

Does anyone have any good recommendations for a voice recorder with transcription for 2 hour class lectures? The recorder needs to allow me to use my MacBook during the lecture while recording the speaker. Also, something that doesn't require a subscription is a plus!

Recording with a USB audio capture cable I'm trying to record audio from a cassette player using a USB audio capture cable connected to my M1 Mac Mini. The Mac tags the cable as "USB Microphone" and the incoming audio shows up in Settings/Sound but not in Audacity, Voice Memos or Quicktime.
