Iphone purchase at Apple store with sim protect question

Hello. I am currently with T-Mobile. I have a samsung phone with a physical SIM card and sim protect turned on. If I go into the Apple Store to purchase a new iPhone do I need to turn off sim protect since the iPhone comes with a new esim preinstalled already? Thanks
