I have just upgraded my 2018 Mac Mini to MacOS 15 Sequoia.
Since 2019 it has always backed up to a folder called TMFolder on a Synology DS413j.
( My partner's Mini also backs up to the same NAS, but hers is still on Sonoma. Her backups still run successfully. )
Every time Time Machine on my Mini tries to backup to the NAS now, it reports:
The backup will fail anywhere between one and five minutes after starting.

Add-on security apps have a very long history of introducing issues and errors and noise, yes.
Similar issue, using different NAS
MacBook Pro 2019, macOS Sequoia 15.0.1 + WD EX2 manually updated to samba 4.18.8 including required extensions support for Apple and TimeMachine.
Worked ok using ethernet and as soon I started using Wifi I got continuous disconnection errors. Disabling Firewall helped succeeding after couple of retries, now testing enabling it back including it expectedly within allowed Firewall apps. I also use Little Snitch Version 5.8 (6402), I have been using it for years without any problems.

In my case I tried providing explicitly full disk access to Time Machine and result is the same, it only works when firewall is disabled.
Looking forward to test with MacOS 15.1 version once released, as there is a comment with the RC version it works.
Same here, as soon I have updated to 15.1 next scheduled backup worked like a charm. I will post in case future ones fail.
My setup is MacBook Pro 16" 2019 (intel) + WD EX2 NAS with samba manually updated to versions supporting TimeMachine over Samba.
I can now also confirm that 15.1 appears to have resolved the Time Machine/NAS issue completely.
Incidentally, I was also having what I thought was an unrelated issue with Mail being very slow to retrieve new messages, and that problem has also been resolved, so I wonder whether that was also related to a problem within the firewall.
I installed the recommended Synology beta for SMB and my backup continued to fail. The only workaround I've found to work consistently is to turn the firewall off.
I'm running 15.0.1 with firewall turned on, but my TM backup is still failing, if you turned it off, it will work, but not ideal. Anyone figured out how to get it back working with firewall on?
As disabling Apple's firewall seems to fix the issue, this is clearly not a Synology problem to fix.
Apple did some changes to the firewall settings that are causing the problem.
If you can upgrade to macOS 15.1 on Monday (10/28) it will interesting to see if it resolves your issue.. It does seem to help with the Firewall problem.

It’s not an Apple bug. It is a Synology bug.
Prior to their SMB 3 implementation, they use Netatalk which is a hack of Apple Filing Protocol (AFP). Apple has never licensed AFP. When Apple switched to SMB networking, they set a specification for Time Machine over SMB. It is up to Synology to support that specification.

It may not be just the Firewall. See the below developer who is concerned about Privacy & Security ---> Local Network settings.

It appears that processes needing access to local network devices are not properly being granted it.

Yes, that worked for me too, for a while and then it suddenly stopped working again. I saw a post here (that I now can't find) that suggested re-starting in safe mode and then re-starting normally. I did that and, with the firewall off, my backups are working again. Not sure quite what that did, but certainly did the trick for me.
Simply go to System preferences, Open the Network item and in Firewall, toggle it to off, and your backups will work. Of course, it's not ideal if that's the only firewall protecting your machine.
