Several things. Until about a year ago, I was an Android user and had used schedule send for years. So the feature, generically, isn't new to me. To this:
- For excessive Notifications, you either allow an app to send them to you or not. If you find an app that sends you too many Notifications, then you have 2 options, either see if the app allows you to adjust the frequency of the notifications or quit using the app. It seems you want to keep things simple, but at the same time want a more complicated approach to manage the notifications.
I did that when I first set up the phone, and found the apps' and settings' granularity to be limited. Yes, my exact point was that in many/most cases you have to choose between too many notifications or none at all. Neither is my preference.
As for the complaining, it's largely been in response to other comments who, forgive me, seem like semi-aggressive apologists for the iPhone's shortcomings. I appreciate the suggestions. But I have to say that a lot of the replies I'm referencing were more like, "you have to work to use the iPhone (or compromise/"kludge" something); don't expect the iPhone to work for you. And if you don't like it--you're the problem, the disappointing, expensive product isn't.. Or something like that.
Since I set up my phone (purposely bought when I had a little time), I have become crushingly busy, and don't have time to manage my phone at that level at the moment. I will check out the "notification summary" feature. But til then, will use what's more or less working while things are this crazy.
As for Siri, I may try it at some point. Right now, it works to use an app (messages) that I know I will already be checking frequently.
The offense taken here (by a couple people) doesn't help Apple's (/users') reputation for unearned-cult-like devotion. Comparing Apples to Androids (heh), I'm just finding myself disappointed with the iPhone. And the excitement at finally having "send later" was at least 60% dashed when I learned about its limitations (things Android's scheduled send has done for years).
I don't mean to offend anyone *personally* by "complaining" about the iPhone. I can't say that I ever would have been personally offended had someone complained about an Android feature when I had the Android. I'd either offer ideas (offered here, appreciated--if not stuff I can check out at the moment), or say "amen," if it was an issue for me too.
