Why can't I schedule messages to Android users on iPhone?

People who switch from iPhones to Androids have the same problem. There are things iPhones do that Android phones don't. The same thing happens when switching from Mac to Windows (or vice versa). It's all what you get used to.

I would always suggest use whatever platform you are most comfortable with. None of us here care whether that is Android or iPhone. You are free to look in the Google Support forums and you will see the same comments from people who have switched to Android from an iPhone. The two platforms are supposed to be different and there are many things that iOS users can do on their iPhone that is not possible on Android. The choice is yours to make for whatever reason you choose. If you had been within the 2 week period, you could have returned your phone for a full refund.

I’m also frustrated about another feature that doesn’t cross over to other phones. Sending a scheduled text is exactly what I need to use in a lot of situations and I can only do this with other iPhones?

After over 20 years of being committed to Apple, I’m about to switch. I’ve had it with these never ending “Apple only” issues.

I just figured out why I can sometimes schedule a message and other times I could not. This android limitation is not a good Apple decision. I have been frustrated for months not understanding why I could sometimes schedule a message, and other times not.

Apple, I switched from Android and Windows to your environment for better/easier security and a reduction in junk coming in from all sides to my email and texting apps. While I have largely achieved that, your failure to accept android destinations as critical means you are not dealing with the realities of society. I'm getting ready to replace my now old iPhone XR and it is starting to look like my new one will not be an iPhone.

Your willing to give up security and the reduction of spam email/messages for a Send Later option to Android phones? That is a bold statement. Since the introduction of "Send Later" 5 months ago, I have never even used it once to an iPhone user, so apparently we have different priorities.

The only reason I ever used the feature (back in my Android days) was when I wanted the person to get the message at a time I wouldn't be available to see or respond to their response. Mostly a cowardly way of dealing with broken relationships.

I don't have any use for it now. I think there are, though, people out there who believe that a text message demands an instant response so that if they send it now, people will feel obligated to drop everything they are doing and respond. I don't make that assumption. Send it now, let people answer when they can. And it's incumbent on people to put their own phones on silent so notifications don't wake them up.

I don't know the reason why but I also don't see the option for sending later for non-iMessage users.

The sad thing is scheduled sending has been a thing on non iphones for years even without RCS. Updating to iOS 18.1 tonight, really hoping this is fixed by then. Can anyone confirm?

That's too bad. Messages needs to be uncoupled from iOS so that it can be updated more frequently, it's listed in the Apple app store already.

Apple literally comes pre installed with an app called reminders and it works great. Complaining about something that already exists.

So is there a response from Apple here??  I am not seeing anything. Am I missing something? Are they radio silent on this?
