Upgrading to Sonoma from Monterrey.

Hey,

I have a lot of outboard audio gear which hasn’t been tested on Sequoia yet. It has been advised to wait on Sonoma for the time being.

im currently on the latest version of Monterrey and would like to upgrade to Sonoma. Unfortunately, when I go to upgrade via system preferences there doesn’t seem to be a way to choose Sonoma and it only suggests Sequioa. Is there a way to upgrade to Sonoma from system prefs? Or should I just wait on Monterrey until Sequioa has been battled tested with the audio gear.

thanks for all the help.

Or is it going to effectively be very similar to when it is updated via software preferences?

It will just upgrade macOS, like when you do updates via S/W Prefs.. There will be no change to your users or your installed applications, they will remain as is.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for taking the time.

I have legacy software that seems to still run from what was shipped with Catalina (non-critical / lose-able in the right way) and also a number of serial keys that would need to be de-registered.

Any ideas?

A - No, It will install keeping your existing Computer Account under macOS 12 Monterey. It juts upgrades all the bit and pieces of the Operating System from macOS 12 Monterey to macOS 14 Sonoma
