Is there any way to downgrade from version iOS 18?
Is there any way to downgrade from this horrible version 18? Well any way other than bricking my phone and starting from scratch.

Go to Settings>Battery>Battery Health. What is the Maximum Capacity? If it's less than 80%, you need a new battery.
This is the worst update ever, the controls center,
You can use the Control Center in the same way as before. You don't need to customize it if you don't want to.
camera roll got super complicated I do not have a clear overview anymore.
Yes, the new version of Photos is different and does take a little while to get used to. But, if you take the time to learn how to use it, you may find it's not so bad.
Why creating an IOS update if it makes the life of apple user more complicated??!
So Apple should never add new features or make changes? Change almost always requires that we learn some new things but, if you remain open to learning new things you might 1) find out you like them and 2) help keep your brain young.
An update should be there to make everything more efficient and easier... truly disappointed. As everyone else here I am sharing the same struggles and wish there was a way to get back to IOS17!!!
It's a lot easier to learn new things if you stop being so angry about it. And no, not everyone wants to go back to iOS 18.
I wanna downgrade from this disastrous 18 version, my phone is just so complicated to use!
You can't. So, your choices are to learn how to to use iOs 18 or get a different brand of phone. That, of course, would involve a much larger learning curve.
I hope Apple sees this and takes action!
Apple doesn't read here in this user-to-user forum for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:
To make your feedback most effective, I suggest you stick to specific issues, not requests to be able to downgrade. That's highly unlikely to ever happen.
Here’s a thought, give the people options. Like the old versions, allow users to toggle “old” and “new” for apps that have been thoroughly changed. Me? I don’t like widgets and different sized thumbnails and such, I like same sized icons and folders.
So, as an example, photos has now become a disaster of random widgets and is now a sloppy mess lacking proper organization and symmetry. The former version was symmetrical, had same sized folders and icons, and you could CHOOSE (at the bottom) to look at photos chronologically, by year, month, day… or then scroll right and see by date added to library, and all the folders organized in a different section. All the folders were grouped together by default, and not separated by mismatched plops of ADHD inspired idiotic widgets making the now mindnumb user so frustrated they trade for an Android. Somewhere I read a comment saying iOS 18 photos was almost as good as Google. Well might I enlighten Apple. Maybe people used iPhones and Apple photos because they DON’T like Google??? Bring back a previous version option for those of us with over 178000 photos in iCloud, as I liked the way I had it organized. Honestly, I really hate the new photos app. This is Apple’s Cybertruck. Technologically brilliant, new and more modern in every way, designed with newer generations in mind, and ultimately an absolute failure to use in the real world.
I am having many niggles. Many of my Apps will no longer open - they just flip staright back to a thumbnail when you open them. I have deleted and reinstalled some of them.
I can no longer sync all my music from itunes library on my PC to the phone - it randomly just syncs some. However when I look at my device settings on Itunes it says all the music is on the device - but the Music app is not listing it.
I can no longer play my music from the Music app through my car stereo. I do this with a lead into an aux socket since my car is too old for bluetooth.
I am struggling to drag and drop photos from the phone to PC
This is all so frustrating - wish I had not done the update

I have a 13 Pro Max with 95% BH. This is by far the worst update in the 3 years i’ve owned this phone. The phone is slow and glitchy, and it stutters, battery life is abysmal and it just runs so poorly overall, ios 17 ran flawlessly. I regret updating.
When iOS 17 came out, there were people who said the same thing about it.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc.

How many of them were Facebook/Meta apps?

I'm not seeing that problem. I also have a car without BT and use the AUX jack. How are you connecting your phone? Is there an adapter involved? They tend to be a weak point in that sort of set up.

Good for you. Most people are very displeased. The photos ui downgrade is a disgrace.
Some people are displeased. Where do you get your statistics that it's "most" people? How many is "most"?
And have you submitted your feedback to Apple?
I love the new Photos app.
Here's just one nice simple thing. If I start to search for an app that starts with the letter "s", I can't. I put an "s" into the search box and it immediately closes. What am I, some sort of beta tester? No - this is iOS18.0, a supposedly fit to release product.

I can't replicate that problem and I also haven't seen very many (any?) other complaints about that. Search works just fine for me.
Have you restarted your phone since you updated? If not, do that.

I just tried doing a search using S on two iPhone's running iOS 18 and it's working without any issue on either phone.

Of course I did - countless times. Fortunately, that particular issue got fixed in the 18.01 update; and uninstalling and reinstalling various apps resolved most of the other glitches.
Uninstalling and reinstalling - two things I should not have needed to do. I'm not happy - I've changed my settings so that my operating system can't be updated without my approval - it may be a year before iOS 19 comes along, but I won't be touching it with a bargepole until 19.01 at the very earliest.

Did what? I suggested a number of things.

You should absolutely use the strategy that works best for you.
> Did what? I suggested a number of things.
But you only suggested one thing to me - restarting the 'phone. And I had done so - countless times :-)
18.01 resolved one issue, but my "go-to" weather app still wouldn't open. That started working again just before 18.1 came out, so probably fixed by the developer (but they shouldn't have had to - I still see that as an Apple problem).
So now I'm all fixed. Until 19, and as I said, I won't be installing that off the bat.

Yep that is a developer problem. The developers get pre-release version of the software before it is released to update their apps. They also get advance warning when they use a command in their program that will not work in the future. It is called a deprecated API and sometimes that notice is a year or more in advance. It is their responsibility to provide the updates, Apple cannot do it for them.

I suggested you spend some time learning how to use the new features. I suggested that you check your battery health. I suggested that you leave feedback. Oh, and I suggested you restart your phone.
Like many others I am extremely unhappy with the photos change. Many MANY ppl spent tons of time.. like months, maybe years organizing photo albums and with one upgrade and no warning or option to change it, the whole thing gets rearranged the way the developers wanted it to look. And it's a terrible look BTW... but blowing up everyone's layouts without giving them a choice is pretty... we'll say terrible so the post doesn't taken down...
