Are any or all notifications blocked when OSX has entered into game mode?

Experiencing log files that hint at game mode blocking another app, called Neardrop, from being able to display notifications...

default	11:40:28.365315-0400	gamepolicyd	Received state update for 7335 (app<application.me.grishka.NearDrop.41736380.41736390(501)>, running-active-NotVisible
default	11:40:30.383388-0400	NearDrop	[0x6000014705a0] invalidated because the current process cancelled the connection by calling xpc_connection_cancel()
default	11:40:33.310007-0400	NearDrop	void _updateToReflectAutomaticTerminationState(void) Setting _kLSApplicationWouldBeTerminatedByTALKey=1
default	11:40:34.169095-0400	runningboardd	Assertion did invalidate due to timeout: 1201-1201-5755 (target:[app<application.me.grishka.NearDrop.41736380.41736390(501)>:7335])

This happens even when not actively in game mode. As observable in the logs, the game mode process, gamepolicyd, still seems to be cancelling Neardrop notifications over XPC.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!
