Keychain access removed from Utilities in Sequoia

One has to ask why Apple keep doing things that are time wasting for users?

I use keychain access a fair amount and do not want to go looking in libraries for things that have been in Utilities for years.

It was moved from Applications/Utilities up one level to just Applications. No searching necessary. I had it in my Dock, and the dock updated automagically to the new location. It’s also now redundant, because there is a separate Passwords app that does essentially the same thing. I suspect Keychain will go away soon.

And so, the lines between macOs and iOS would seem to merge

I just now tried opening Keychain Access and got a prompt that asked if I wanted the new app to open or Keychain. I chose Keychain and have that option in addition to the new Passwords app. It appears they didn't remove Keychain Access but "Added" a more intuitive app called "Passwords".

PS - When I responded to this there were only two replies. Looks like a lot of people responded so this entry is a repeat of all the other good info.

The line between macOS 15 Sequoia and iOS 18 becomes more and more inline with each other

The New Password Application in macOS 15 falls inline with the New Password App in iOS 18.

The why " Apple keep doing things " ?

You may consider venting one's displeasure directly to Apple

There is Zero, we as fellow users, can do about what and why Apples does things.

Product Feedback - and make it known to Apple .

Thanks. I found out when I rang Apple that the Passwords App should have opened up to reveal all my passwords, however, each time I tried it initially and put in my password it did not do anything, hence my original post. However the agent I spoke to sorted it out, and then of course it was all there fine and dandy and I could see exactly what was there!

Thanks PRP_53. The new App ask you to import and asks for file? This is just so typical of Apple that they make changes without informing anyone and we, the customers have to invest time fulfilling these changes, when as far as I am concerned Apple should be doing this themselves. I just do not like change for the sake of it. We are not free labour for global companies.

Re informing Apple, of course I have done exactly that already :)

The question mark should be on this end. I have no idea what you are talking about.

I just do not like change for the sake of it.

The new Passwords app is much easier to use than Keychain Access for the vast majority of users. If you want to keep using Keychain Access, feel free to do so.

You are welcome

OP " without informing anyone "

Since the announcement of macOS Sequoia back in June of this year

We, that is, You and All Others have had the opportunity to Preview what was coming in Sequoia

As to those who availed themselves of this information

It would seem form " without informing anyone " some may chosen to Not be Informed of the changes coming in macOS

That is Not On Apple per se, but rather squarely on the User ( you ) or Users ( others )

macOS Sequoia - Apple

I do not understand why you have put this. As I said earlier I'm out of here as I will get Apple to talk me through putting everything in one place without having to think about it. :)

Also, PRP_53 was responding to me, not you.
