Getting error message in Finder after upgrading to macOS Sequoia

After upgrading to macOS Sequoia I am getting this error message in Finder. It keeps appearing twice on each of my Mac Studio and MacBook Air. I have never installed Google Chrome on my computers, or other Google products.


What is happening and how could I get rid of this error?

I am also getting the exact same error message since upgrading to Sequoia. I also work for the NHS and get emails from NHS Executive (info@Information.nationalhealthexecutive.com) as described later in the thread here. Moving the email to the bin and then back again into the inbox triggers the pop up so it must be something in the email triggering it. I have emails set to not load content directly in privacy settings but disabling this has no effect on the pop ups. I will block the sender of the email and unsubscribe to the emails in the hope that this solves it, but if anyone knows why this is happening it would be useful to know just in case I need to resubscribe to this NHS news letter in the future. Thanks. Just like, Michael this has been driving me nuts as its really inconvenient when sharing your screen during a teams presentation to have these randomly appear for all to see

I finally found what triggers the two error messages, by sheer luck and coincidence, but I am not sure why it is happening and how to fix this. It is triggered by a newsletter from NationalHealthExecutive@cognitivepublishing.co.uk which arrives by e-mail to my work Inbox which is setup in the Mail app on my computers running macOS Sequoia.


Luckily, I was working late last night when, at the moment when this e-mail landed in my inbox (see screenshot attached), two identical error messages popped up.


I moved the e-mail to Trash and cancelled the error messages. Then I moved it back to Inbox and the two error messages re-appeared instantaneously. By doing so repeatedly, I could now replicate the problem each and every time.


I reviewed all 145 e-mails received from this address in Trash, by moving them to Inbox one by one, and only a few (less than 10) triggered the error messages. Usually two error messages appeared but sometimes three or only one message. All messages which triggered the messages were received on 3 July, 16, 19, 26 September, and 1, 8 October.


So something in those e-mails triggers the errors. Is it the e-mails themselves the problem? maybe a bug in the Mail app? Or, something in my computer?

I have been having this happen, too, and it's been driving me nuts. Given this clue, I looked at the HTML in emails that I've recently received (open the email, choose View/Message/Raw Source from the menu bar). Sure enough, I eventually found this:

It looks like this email includes some HTML tags that on a web page would enable grammarly integration with the Zotero translation chrome plugin, but in Mail cause the "no application found" dialog box to pop up.
