iOS 18 size increased after updating to 17.7

I was checking if there were any software updates available and I had iOS 17.7 in the list and iOS 18, at first, iOS 18’s size was at about 3.32 GB or something like that. I preferred to update my iPhone to 17.7 first before updating it to 18 because I didn’t want to yet, and that’s what I did, after updating to iOS 17.7 I checked he iOS 18 software size and saw that its size increased from 3.32 GB to 6.64 GB… Anybody knows what is this due to and if there is any way to avoid taking so much storage size for this update?

First of all, it would NOT be possible to update to iOS 18.0.1, then to iOS 17.7, so there's no need to ask anyone that question. You can go up in iOS versions. You can NEVER go backwards. And I do understand the size difference and explained that iOS 18 was a significantly bigger update than iOS 17.7.
