how do i change the options for slideshows on iPhone 14 upgraded to iOS18? for example, how fast the images change and what song plays?

When I select photos and click the option for slideshow, the speed of the images changing is quite fast. They change about every two seconds. In iOS 17, I could open options within the slideshow and change the speed (and more), but in iOS 18, I cannot find that menu. Where did it go?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

I talked to Apple Support specifically about this. According to them, the slideshow speed, transition, and scale settings have all been

removed in iOS 18. Also, whatever the setting is that [doesn’t] combine multiple images into a single slide.

Absolutely not a concrete promise, but they spoke as if the features will be returned in a future iOS.

Until then, I see 2 options.

  1. Can somebody find a free app that is comparable and doesn’t have a slide count limit?
  2. Photos slideshows should automatically generate “Memories” (movies). If not, turn on the option in settings. Then share/export them as files. Finally access the files with an alternate video player, most of which have playback speed control. However, this is nowhere the quality we had in Photos.

Thank you! I feel better knowing that the features were removed. I’m usually adept at finding these settings on my own, but this time, I was at a loss. Because the features are gone. Knowing it wasn’t me, I am disappointed that they removed these options, so I do hope that a future update restores them. I appreciate your sharing what you learned!

I forgot to mention the music. While you are in an active slideshow (single slide view, no thumbs), tap the screen to reveal controls if not already showing. Tap musical note button. It will say “added to memories”, though I thought they were all made memories already automatically. Now tap the musical note button with the “+” on it. This pulls up all your choices for different audio, apparently from Apple Music. If there is a way to select your own music, I have not found it yet
