iPhone keyboard lagging after iOS 18 Update

As soon as I upgraded to iOS 18 my phone is horrible and if I type more than two sentences it freezes. I have a 12 pro max and I’ve tried resetting the dictionary and shutting off all of the keyboard settings. The only thing I haven’t tried is replacing the battery which I have heard can cause problems but when I read that everyone is having issues with a brand new phone it looks like I’m screwed

Yes definitely a big problem with this lagging keyboard. I can’t sign in to anything online cause the keyboard doesn’t pop up for me to????? Doesn’t happen every day but it SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT ALL as I’m able to type this. Pls FIX THIS. trying to my bills online and now I can’t on my phone. SMH.

I don't think that's the problem. My girlfriend also has a 14 pro Max which has less storage available compared to mine and she lets all apps open all the time, but hers works just fine. Never had any issues with the keyboard

Overheating is also back this time for me on my 15PM. Have you noticed it on yours?

I'm playing a game that any other phone can run smoothly but my iPhone reacts like it's the most intensive task on the planet🙃

Also while browsing on Safari or using the camera for more than 2 mins

Doesn’t work but the new update they just pushed has maybe fixed my keyboard. To soon to tell but it feels so much better. Anyone else see an improvement? I truly do. Just so nervous and so used to the issue I am still not sure but it seems to have at least radically improved it.

i did a force reset just to be sure after the update. It’s improved but still a little skeptical. Anyone else see an improvement? Dang just saw a lag. But it’s better not great but better. I can’t understand why this has taken so long. It still feels weird but better.

I completely agree with you and have experienced the exact same problems. The keyboard lag you described is something I can also reproduce, and it happens in a variety of apps for me as well.

From my experience, the keyboard seems to respond a bit better shortly after a new iOS update, but unfortunately, this improvement doesn’t last long—usually just a few hours before the issue returns.

I also strongly suspect the root cause lies with the CPU or, as you mentioned, a memory leak. It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with this on such a high-end device.

Same here. Iphone 16 Pro max with ios18.2.1 tones of lag on typing and keyboard actions.

Do not think there is any solution on this, even if you disable autocorrect, emoji keyboard etc.

Apple need to make critical changes on iPhone performance since these devices costs 1K and a half.....

Issue not solved yet with 18.3.2.

Plus, they introduced a new issue: go to settings, see all icons on the left loading one by one!

I am not sure what is going on with Apple, but IOS is not the same solid experience as 5-6 years ago going back.

I am an iPhone user since 2010 with iPhone 4, but unless they change something with IOS 19, I will start checking other manufacturers.

Same problem with my iPhone 14 Pro Max iOS 18.4.1. Laggy specially when I start to write after open a app, for example, WhatsApp….

I use a Samsung Galaxy A34 in my work and is frustrating that my iPhone works laggy compared to a low price phone such as A34….

I have the issue on iPhone 11, I’m kinda happy you owners of 14 and 15 have the problem too, I thought this is the end of it

I had 5-6 dictionaries downloaded, did as you said and I think it might help. Will need to use some more time and come back here to give some reviews..

Yes, it worked initially, but after a few hours, the issues came back.
