Outlook.com issues after iOS 18 update

I saw this happening in the past too.

Outlook.com is not working properly after iOS 18 update.

I tried this with Safari and Chrome on iPhone 14

  • Login is possible.
  • Reading a message is possible.
  • Browsing folders and its messages is possible.
  • Writing a new message is possible.

  • Refreshing the page sometimes won’t work
  • It throws a random error and forces you to close the session and start again.

  • Responding a message won’t work.
  • Forwarding a message won’t work.
  • Moving a message to a folder won’t work.

For the 3 above, the page just quickly refreshes or creates a non-stop looping and finally throws an error.

Issue is between iOS and Outlook.com (it also won’t work with the Outlook app).

Clearing cache, restarting, etc (all basic troubleshooting) didn’t help.

I’m capable to manage my mail (responding messages) only while using Outlook.com on my PC.

Something similar like this happened in the same phone, with other iOS update (16 something…)

My specific issue has been RESOLVED!!

When transfering my iPhone 13 to my iPhone 16, I have VPN services on. Turning it off would only come back on automatically! Here's my reply post on Apple Community. If you cannot get some APPs to install on new iPhone and iOS 18, this might be the problem. It was absolutely my problen and is now solved.

Settings > General > scroll down to VPN & Device Management [select]. > VPN [select]. > simply turning off VPN Status will auto reconnect and turn VPN back on. > Select ExpressVPN Lightway [CLICK ON the blue i ] > TURN OFF Connect on demand.

Remove your present email from Mail and re-enter it using the appropriate option. With that being said if it is a Hotmail or Outlook email try using the Outlook.com option. If that doesn't work try the Microsoft Exchange option. If that still doesn't work about the only alternative you have is to download the Outlook app from the app store and use that for Microsofts email be they Outlook, Hotmail or MSN

Hi.

Not sure I understand your case…

Are you saying you hold an old iPhone, and cannot take advantage of updates?

Have you tried to use Outlook.com (over browser) instead of Outlook app or even Mail app?

Apparently, after the recent update to 18.1, I recovered the ability to manage my Outlook mail account over browser.

Still need to perform more tests…

Anyone still facing the original issue reported (after you update to 18.1)?

Hi Laure,

Thanks for the tip, but I wanted to bring awareness to Apple and its developers for those using their access to Outlook.com over browsers.

I can give a try, and follow your suggestion, just for the sake of testing the Mail app, but it’s not an option for me to use apps to manage my emails.

As a reminder, I did give a try on installing the Outlook app: after confirmation that issues were observed there as well, I simply uninstalled the app. As simple as that.

: )

I sincerely hope any hot-fix from Apple will be released anytime soon and lots of people using browser as primary mean of access to Outlook.com will get that smile in their faces back.

Having also Gmail and Yahoo email accounts being accessed over browser (Safari and Chrome) the issue is not observed with those mail providers. This is just an additional comment over my first post.

Take care.

I have been trying for 8 days to get logged back in to my Microsoft account via Edge and the Microsoft Authenticator. No luck. At this point I have become extremely agitated. I FINALLY got in touch with Microsoft tech support. They say it is purely an Apple issue. I believe they are correct. I have reset my Microsoft password and uninstalled and reinstalled that authenticator numeros times. I can log in to my Microsoft Account on my Macbook M3 Pro, My 12" iPad and my Desktop Windows 11 PC without an issue, so it's not an account issue. I simply cannot log in on my new iPhone 16 Pro. I keep getting an error in Edge and the Authenticator "too many attempts".

Before I go completely mad someone from APPLE fix or respond to this issue. I absolutely need to get logged in to my Microsoft account on my iPhone 16 Pro.

I had zero problems on my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 18. Please help!

I’ve definitely experienced something similar in the past with Outlook.com after an iOS update. It’s really frustrating when basic functions like replying or forwarding emails stop working, especially after clearing cache and doing all the usual troubleshooting steps. Sometimes these issues are fixed after a patch from either Apple or Microsoft, so hopefully, they release a fix soon.

I'll tell you what's on my mind; Apple and their "incompetence" in issuing an update that has rendered Outlook email TOTALLY USELESS. I can't open any of my emails. I use the word incompetence advisedly or are they trying to drive us into the mire of the spam laden Mail program.

Additionally the wifi function corrupted my Google mesh system advising me that the system was "blocking DNS encrypted traffic" and that I was "not connected to the internet". This has now rectified itself this morning.

I expect upgrades to "do no harm" and at worst to make improvements.

Apple needs to sort this out and fast.
