Outlook.com issues after iOS 18 update

I saw this happening in the past too.

Outlook.com is not working properly after iOS 18 update.

I tried this with Safari and Chrome on iPhone 14

  • Login is possible.
  • Reading a message is possible.
  • Browsing folders and its messages is possible.
  • Writing a new message is possible.

  • Refreshing the page sometimes won’t work
  • It throws a random error and forces you to close the session and start again.

  • Responding a message won’t work.
  • Forwarding a message won’t work.
  • Moving a message to a folder won’t work.

For the 3 above, the page just quickly refreshes or creates a non-stop looping and finally throws an error.

Issue is between iOS and Outlook.com (it also won’t work with the Outlook app).

Clearing cache, restarting, etc (all basic troubleshooting) didn’t help.

I’m capable to manage my mail (responding messages) only while using Outlook.com on my PC.

Something similar like this happened in the same phone, with other iOS update (16 something…)

Anyone facing the same?

iPhone 14, iOS 18

My specific issue has been RESOLVED!!

When transfering my iPhone 13 to my iPhone 16, I have VPN services on. Turning it off would only come back on automatically! Here's my reply post on Apple Community. If you cannot get some APPs to install on new iPhone and iOS 18, this might be the problem. It was absolutely my problen and is now solved.

Someone@hotmail.com has worked since 1993 without fault. After upgrading my iPhone 13 Pro to iOS 18 someon@hotmail.com will not work. IMAP reports problems with password. Deleting account only caused further problems. iPhone will not allow recreation of the account. IMAP is not happy/does not support password. iPhone XR which has never had a hotmail account works perfectly. Does anyone have any idea?

But you are reporting issues with Mail app or Outlook app, right?

The original post was created to report issues with mail-over-browser use.

I did mention that I tried testing my account with Outlook app too, but just for testing purposes. It didn’t work well, by the way.

I always liked to manage my email over browser, only, not relying on apps.

Exceptionally I had to setup my Outlook account with Mail app. Otherwise I couldn’t respond to messages, pure and simple…

I cannot login to outlook.com on Edge, Safari or Chrome. All those browsers want me to login to my Microsoft account or sync my setting. Upon clicking on and trying to login to my account on Safari or Chrome the screen goes blank, never to recover. When I try on Edge, it want me to use the Authenticator, which of course I cannot do either because it wants me to setup my account, which I cannot do because it will no log me in due to "too many attempts".

I cannot login to outlook.com nor any Microsoft address without first logging in to my account. It's a vicious loop of going no where. Anything associated with Microsoft on my phone is fubar'd.

No Word, no Excel, no Outlook or anything associated with my account/syncs are possible. This issue is "only" on my iPhone 16 Pro! My iPad running 17.7 has no issues!

I fear I may have to wipe my new iPhone 16 and just start from scratch, which I deeply dread.

Hi JMFwolf, are you referring to the Outlook app or Apple’s Mail app? Better report the issue in a separate topic, then let them know all the details on your device model and iOS version. I haven’t updated the iOS yet - I have got the notification only this morning, and I keep waiting for the next one. I can you that, right now, I have no issues with access to Outlook.com over browser (Safari) and also via Mail app, on a iPhone 14.
